Tess is an Associate at Publica, specialising in public realm strategy and spatial analysis. With a multidisciplinary background spanning graphic design, database management and wayfinding, she brings a research-led design approach attuned to both client priorities and community needs.

Since joining Publica in 2022, Tess has delivered a range of significant public realm strategies, masterplans and research projects across London, the UK and internationally. She is currently contributing to the long-term vision and feasibility study for the transformation of Marble Arch, helping to shape plans for a major new civic space as part of the Mayor of London’s wider pedestrianisation ambitions for Oxford Street.

Her broader experience includes leading work across the City of London, including the Eastern City Public Realm Vision, alongside a Cultural Planning Framework and a series of smaller-scale urban design projects across the capital. She also recently completed a comprehensive audit of Soho’s heritage assets for the Soho Neighbourhood Forum, documenting nearly 700 sites to support future planning decisions and celebrate the area’s distinctive identity.

Tess has collaborated with The London Society to lead a walking tour of the City of London, and has featured on BBC Radio London, Soho Radio and the London Explain Podcast. She has also contributed writing to Vertical Urbanism.

Prior to joining Publica, Tess worked in New York as a strategist at Pentagram and as an urban planner at James Corner Field Operations. She holds a Master of City Planning and Urban Design from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Bachelor’s degree in History from Yale University.
