Daniel joined Publica as Senior Researcher in 2019, working across a range of research and policy of projects. He conducted research for the GLA’s Night Time Strategy Guidance for Boroughs, developing best practice approaches for the planning and management of London’s night time activities. He continues to collaborate with the GLA’s 24-Hour London team, as well as cities around the UK, supporting local authorities to develop holistic night time strategies.

Daniel has led evaluations of all three Night Time Enterprise Zones in Bromley, Woolwich and Vauxhall for the GLA. His work has included conducting night surgeries, engaging directly with night time businesses, and supporting strategy development in Bristol and for the Heart of London Business Association.

He has also contributed to the GLA’s Good Growth by Design guidance, focusing on gender-inclusive design in the built environment. In this role, he has supported the development, testing and dissemination of guidance with professionals across the sector. Daniel played a key role in shaping and delivering Publica CIC’s major international initiative with CHANGE, Designing Safety, Building Belonging: Addressing Gender-Based Violence in Urban Spaces, working across Bogotá, Louisville and Stockholm.

In addition, Daniel contributed to the development of the Newham Cultural Strategy and has mapped community, creative and cultural facilities in Newham and Tower Hamlets to inform policymaking and regeneration.

Daniel holds a master’s degree in Sustainable Urban Planning and Design from KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and bachelor’s degree in Geography from the University of Edinburgh. His master’s thesis explored perceptions of age-friendliness among elderly communities in Stockholm.
