Founding Director Lucy Musgrave delivered the keynote speech at Connected Places Catapult’s National Summit this March, making the case for a whole-system approach to urban innovation — one where the transition to net zero is inclusive, participatory, and celebratory rather than purely technical.

Sharing insights from Publica’s strategy and policy work, including the evening and night time policy guidance for the GLA, and initiatives in Manchester promoting active lives and safer streets for women, girls and gender-diverse people, Lucy argued for a more transformative model of development taken in this approach.

She closed with an appeal to scale ambition: to build on the research and evidence-base of tested projects across London and translate the insights into a holistic nationwide strategy.
