Flora Tonking

Associate Director, Head of Research

Flora is an Associate Director and Head of Research, and leads the strategic direction of the research team. Flora is responsible for ensuring the rigour of the analysis methods used in data collection across Publica’s projects. She also coordinates the ongoing research programme, which supports many of the practice’s projects and delivers standalone studies on key issues affecting the built environment.

Flora is currently directing the development of a new vision for the Oxford Street district, and has worked on a number of strategic projects for clients including the City of London, one of London’s Great Estates, and multiple Business Improvement Districts. Flora studied geography at Durham University, and development studies at the University of London.

Flora has a technical background in designing and delivering complex research programmes, both internationally and in the UK. Before joining Publica, she previously worked for Arup, as a senior consultant in their international development team. In previous roles she developed research and strategy work for a wide range of organisations including the Rockefeller Foundation, Procter & Gamble, and the International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Societies.
