Public Realm Study

The Soho Public Realm Study was commissioned from Publica by Westminster City Council and Transport for London along with partners Camden Council. Its aim is to better understand the existing and unique conditions of Soho and its place within the network of West End neighbourhoods, in order to make informed recommendations for the improvement of pedestrian movement and cycling provision across its 11km of streets and alleyways.

Following discussions with key stakeholder groups Publica was asked to suggest strategic proposals for ten streets and spaces identified as priority sites through our fieldwork and the analysis of issues and opportunities.

The study provides a coherent strategy and delivery framework for future public realm projects and opportunities across Soho, including area-wide recommendations and proposals for individual streets and spaces.

The document and its suggestions have been used to test opportunities and aid discussion amongst partners and stakeholders.

A copy of this report is available on the Westminster City Council website.
