Film of the month: Highrise

A multi-year, multi-media, collaborative documentary project about life in residential highrises.

Directed by Katerina Cizek and produced by Gerry Flahive for the National Film Board of Canada (NFB).

Cizek’s vision for the on going project is to see how the documentary process can drive and participate in social innovation rather than just to document it.

Highrise takes you on a journey around the world through the most commonly built architectural form of the last century: the concrete residential tower. You meet remarkable high-rise residents in 13 cities and visit their intimate space, while listening to their stories.

The project, which began in 2009, includes the web documentaries Out My Window and One Millionth Tower and History of the Highrise.
