Bank Area Enhancement Strategy

Bank Area Enhancement Strategy

Publica has been appointed by the City of London Corporation to develop a public realm strategy for the Bank area of central London. Bank is a complex interchange at the junction of seven streets, served by three tube lines and a large number of bus routes (pictured). Narrow pavements and railings accentuate rush hour congestion, and there are very few green spaces or public squares. With a number of new developments planned for the area, demand on this already oversubscribed public realm is set to increase considerably. Publica’s strategy will build upon the priorities identified through an area survey and consultation process carried out in late 2011.
